AN ACT AMENDING THE DATE OF ANNUAL TOWN ELECTIONS IN THE TOWN OF WALPOLE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Paragraph (C) of section 3-1 of article III of the charter of the town of Walpole, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “first Saturday in June” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- third Tuesday in May.
SECTION 2. Said paragraph (C) of said section 3-1 of said article III of said charter is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:- Notwithstanding the preceding sentence, the select board may delay the date of the annual town election during a state of emergency declared by the governor in accordance with any state law or executive order addressing the delay of local elections.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
