An Act Making Appropriations for the Fiscal Year 2010 to Provide for Supplementing Certain Existing Appropriations and for Certain Other Activities and
Projects.
Whereas,
The
deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose which is to further regulate the campaign finance, ethics and lobbying in the commonwealth, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION
1.
Section 1 of chapter 268B of the General Laws, as appearing in section 85 of chapter 28 of the acts of 2009, is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of “Executive agent,” the following definition:-
“Gift”, a payment, entertainment, subscription, advance, services or anything of value, unless consideration of equal or greater value is received; provided, however, that “gift” shall not include a political contribution reported as required by law, a commercially reasonable loan made in the ordinary course of business, anything of value received by inheritance or a gift received from a member of the reporting person’s immediate family or from a relative within the third degree of consanguinity of the reporting person or of the reporting person’s spouse or from the spouse of any such relative;.
SECTION 2.
Section 105 of chapter 28 of the acts of 2009 is hereby amended by inserting after the word “Sections” the following words
:-
1 to 16, inclusive, and”.
