An Act relative to the interest rate to be charged upon apportioned betterment assessments for
the Weweantic sewer project in the town of Wareham.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1.
Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Wareham shall assess interest on apportionments of sewer betterment assessments for the Weweantic sewer project, the betterment assessment statement for which was re
corded with the Plymouth County Registry of Deeds on November 14, 2003, in Book 27023, Page 221, at the rate of interest of one-half of one percent.
SECTION 2.
If upon the effective date of this act such assessments have already been apportioned and one o
r more portions with interest at the rates allowed under section 13 of chapter 80 of the general laws have been added to the annual tax assessed with respect to the assessed properties, then from the first day of October after the effective date of this ac
t, such apportioned assessments shall bear interest at the rate authorized by Section 1 of this act.
SECTION 3.
This act shall take effect upon its passage.
