An Act relative to interest rates to be charged upon apportioned betterment assessments in the town of Wareham.


 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Wareham is hereby authorized with res pect to betterment assessments for any or all projects assessed after the effective date of this act, to assess interest on apportionments of such assessments at the rate of interest set by the town by bylaw, or by vote with respect to a particular project , provided that no such rate shall exceed the rates permitted by section 13 of chapter 80 of the general laws and provided that if the town does not elect to set lower rates as authorized under this act, the town shall charge interest at the rates permitte d by section 13 of chapter 80 of the general laws.

SECTION 2.   This act shall take effect upon its passage.
