Dear Mr. James:
Pursuant to Chapter 30, section 33, MGLs, the Office of the State Auditor hereby submits the following legislation for the 2011 – 2012 legislative session.
AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE LOCAL MANDATE LAW
This bill would update and strengthen the Commonwealth’s local mandate law consistent with court decisions and Division of Local Mandate determinations.
AN ACT RELATIVE TO VENDOR CONTRACTS
This bill would strengthen and clarify the State Auditor’s authority to audit public funds appropriated by the Legislature.
AN ACT RELATIVE TO FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS OF BUSINESS, CORRESPONDENCE AND TRADE SCHOOLS
This bill would strengthen the State Auditor’s oversight of so-called occupational schools and increase consumer protection.
AN ACT IMPLEMENTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE STATE AUDITOR RELATIVE TO RENT FRAUD IN STATE PUBLIC HOUSING.
This bill would give the Office of the State Auditor and Local Housing Authorities the necessary tools to reduce fraud in state public housing.
