An Act relative to creditable service for Stephen Gerald Roche.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to authorize the state retirement board to grant creditable service to Stephen Gerald Roche, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the state retirement board shall credit Stephen Gerald Roche with creditable service for the period of June 15, 1978 to April 1, 1979, inclusive, for the purpose of determining his superannuation retirement allowance under paragraph (a) of subdivision (2) of section 5 of chapter 32 of the General Laws. Before the date that any retirement allowance becomes effective for Stephen Gerald Roche, he shall pay into the annuity savings fund of the state retirement system in 1 sum or installments, upon such terms and conditions as the board may prescribe, an amount equal to that which would have been withheld as regular deductions from his regular compensation for such previous service, plus interest.
