The Commonwealth of Massachusetts _______________ In the Year Two Thousand Twelve _______________
An Act designating the birthplaces of Michael Bartlett and Dr. Elliot P. Joslin in the town of Oxford . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the highway division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers along the section of state highway route 12 in the town of Oxford, between the intersections of Clara Barton road and North Water road, signifying the birthplace and home of Michael Bartlett (1901-1978), the internationally renowned tenor, star of Broadway, films, radio, opera, theater and concert stage. The markers shall bear the designation and be erected in compliance with the standards of the department. SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the highway division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers along the section of state highway route 12 in the town of Oxford, at the intersection with Maple road, signifying the birthplace and home of Elliot P. Joslin, M.D. (1869-1962) a pioneer in diabetes treatment. The markers shall bear the designation and be erected in compliance with the standards of the department. |
