AN ACT EXEMPTING THE POSITIONS OF PLUMBING INSPECTOR AND GAS FITTING INSPECTOR IN THE CITY OF NEWBURYPORT FROM THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW AND SECTION 11 OF CHAPTER 142 OF THE GENERAL LAWS.. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the positions of plumbing and gas fitting inspectors in the City of Newburyport shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws and section 11 of chapter 142 of the General Laws. SECTION 2. Section 1 shall not impair the civil service status of the persons holding the positions of plumbing and gas fitting inspectors in the City of Newburyport on the effective date of this act. SECTION 3. Notwithstanding any defects or omissions in the procedure for appointing plumbing and gas fitting inspectors in the City of Newburyport prior to the effective date of this act, actions taken by such inspectors are hereby ratified, validated and confirmed as if they were appointed as otherwise required by chapter 142 of the General Laws. SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage. |
