An Act relative to property tax exemptions for permanently and totally disabled veterans . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, section 5 of chapter 59 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 official edition, shall be amended in line 773 by inserting after “per cent.” the following: - However, if the veteran is classified as “totally and permanently disabled,” no further evidence of the existence of the disability shall be required in any subsequent year in the city of town in which the exemption has been so allowed; provided, however that the assessors may refuse to allow an exemption in any subsequent year if they become aware that the soldier or sailor did not satisfy the requisites of this clause at the time the exemption was first granted. |
