Creditable Service for Veterans

[Sponsors] Mr. Fallon of Malden moves to amend the bill by adding the following two sections:

Section XX.  Section 46 of chapter 30 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after subsection 1B the following subsection:-

(1C) An employee with 5 years of creditable service who is a veteran, as defined in the forty-third clause of section 7 of chapter 4, shall upon the employee’s fifth anniversary date of hire be advanced to the maximum step in the employee’s job group.

Section XX.  An employee who, as of the effective date of this act, satisfies the requirements of subsection 1C of section 46 of chapter 30 of the General Laws shall immediately be advanced to the maximum step in the employee’s job group.
