Amendment #347 to H3400

Virtual Public Schools

[Sponsors] Ms. Andrews of Orange moves to amend Section 92 of Chapter 71 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding after subsection (p), the following subsections:-

 

"(q) A school committee operating an Innovation School that is a virtual public school may vote to allow students who do not reside in the district to enroll in said school pursuant to chapter 71, section 12B; provided that any student so enrolled shall have no right to attend any other school operated by said school committee. Notwithstanding subsection (b), an Innovation School that is a virtual public school may receive each school year from the school committee less than the same per pupil allocation as any other district school receives.

 

(r) The board of elementary and secondary education shall not restrict or mandate the enrollment of any student in an Innovation School that is a virtual public school."
