CHAPTER 478 AN ACT FURTHER REGULATING CERTAIN INVESTIGATIONS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Clause (1) of section 51B of chapter 119 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1984 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the second sentence and inserting in place thereof the following two sentences:- Said investigation and evaluation shall commence within two hours of initial contact and be completed within twenty-four hours if the department has reasonable cause to believe the child's health or safety is in immediate danger from further abuse and neglect. Said investigation and evaluation shall commence within two working days of initial contact and be completed within ten calendar days for all other such reports.
