CHAPTER 28 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF THE CLERK AND THE TREASURER OF THE DENNIS WATER DISTRICT IN THE TOWN OF DENNIS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 9 of chapter 277 of the acts of 1945 is hereby amended by striking out the fourth sentence, as amended by section 1 of chapter 504 of the acts of 1965, and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The water commissioners shall appoint a clerk and a treasurer of the district, each for a term of three years.

SECTION 2. Upon the qualification and appointment of a clerk pursuant to the authority contained in section one of this act, the elected incumbent of the office of clerk shall cease to exercise the powers and duties of said office. Upon the qualification and appointment of a treasurer pursuant to the authority contained in said section one, the elected incumbent of the office of treasurer shall cease to exercise the powers and duties of said office.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
