CHAPTER 159 AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE ANNUAL OBSERVANCE OF MASSACHUSETTS POLICE MEMORIAL DAY.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to immediately designate May fifteenth as police memorial day, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Chapter 6 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 15III, inserted by chapter 91 of the acts of 1989, the following section:-

Section 15JJJ. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart May fifteenth as Massachusetts Police Memorial Day, to honor all police officers killed in the line of duty, and recommending that said day be observed in an appropriate manner by the people.

Approved June 21, 1989.
