CHAPTER 165 AN ACT FURTHER REGULATING THE INSURANCE BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO CERTAIN FORMER MEMBERS OF THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF REVERE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, and solely for the purposes of determining whether a former member of the school committee of the city of Revere should be deemed a retired employee of said city for the purposes of chapter thirty-two B of the General Laws, any member or former member of the school committee of said city first elected thereto prior to January first, nineteen hundred and seventy-six shall be deemed to have established creditable service, pursuant to the provisions of chapter thirty-two of the General Laws, for any period of unpaid service as such a member.

Any such member or former member who would be eligible to receive a retirement allowance under said chapter thirty-two based on the total of such creditable service together with any actual creditable service earned by such member shall, for the purposes of said chapter thirty-two B, be deemed a retired employee of said city upon terminating his public employment.

Nothing in this act shall be construed to give any such person any rights or benefits under the provisions of said chapter thirty-two.
