Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 1A of chapter 176A of the General Laws, as amended by section 1 of chapter 621 of the acts of 1987, is hereby further amended by adding the following paragraph:-
Any person who is eligible for Medicare coverage for both hospital and physician services due to age or disability, other than end-stage renal disease, shall be eligible for supplemental coverage to Medicare ninety days before and after the month of such person's Medicare effective date or of the month of such person's loss of group or individual health coverage resulting from such person's retirement. Such supplemental coverage shall be effective no earlier than the effective date of Medicare coverage.
SECTION 2. Chapter 176B of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 7 the following section:-
Section 7A. Any person who is eligible for Medicare coverage for both hospital and physician service due to age or disability, other than end-stage renal disease, shall be eligible for supplemental coverage to Medicare ninety days before and after the month of such person's Medicare effective date or of the month of loss of group or individual health coverage resulting from such person's retirement. Such supplemental coverage shall be effective no earlier than the effective date of Medicare coverage.
