CHAPTER 197 AN ACT RELATIVE TO CERTAIN BENEFITS PAYABLE BY LAWRENCE POLICE RELIEF ASSOCIATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter two hundred and forty-six of the acts of nineteen hundred and seventy-one is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2. The Lawrence Police Relief Association, a corporation duly organized under the provisions of section seven of chapter four hundred and twenty-nine of the acts of eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, is hereby authorized, upon the retirement of any member in good standing from the police department of the city of Lawrence, to pay to such member such sum, not exceeding ten thousand dollars, as may be determined by vote of the board of directors of said corporation. Said association is further authorized, upon the death of a member, to pay to the designated beneficiary of said member, an amount not exceeding twenty thousand dollars, as may be determined by said board.

SECTION 3. This act shall apply to members of the Lawrence Police Relief Association who file application for retirement on or after the effective date of this act.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
