CHAPTER 36 AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDENT IN THE TOWN OF SANDWICH.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one of chapter forty-one of the General Laws, the position of highway surveyor in the town of Sandwich is hereby abolished.

SECTION 2. The board of selectmen of the town of Sandwich is hereby authorized to appoint a superintendent of public works with such responsibility as said board shall from time to time determine including the duties of a highway surveyor under the provisions of section sixty-two of chapter forty-one of the General Laws.

SECTION 3. Notwithstanding the provisions of sections one and two, the incumbent in the position of highway surveyor upon the effective date of this act shall continue to hold such position and perform the duties thereof until the expiration of his term or a precedent vacating of such position.
