CHAPTER 385 AN ACT CHANGING THE NAME OF THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER TO THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Manchester in Essex county shall be designated and known as the town of Manchester-by-the-Sea.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect as of July first, nineteen hundred and ninety.

SECTION 3. This act shall be submitted for acceptance to the voters of the town of Manchester at the town election to be held in the year nineteen hundred and ninety in the form of the following question which shall be placed upon the official ballot to be used for the election of town officers at said election:-

"Shall an act passed by the general court in the year nineteen hundred and eighty-nine, entitled 'An Act changing the name of the town of Manchester to the town of Manchester-by-the-Sea', be accepted " If a majority of the votes cast in answer to said question is in the affirmative, this act shall thereupon take effect, but not otherwise.
