Session Laws

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section fifty-nine of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws or of any other general or special law or rule to the contrary, any firefighter employed in the Springfield fire department who had been employed in a title above that of firefighter for one year after certification prior to the effective date of the reduction in force of said fire department in June of nineteen hundred and eighty-nine shall be deemed eligible to take the next promotional civil service examination for the next higher title than the title in which he was employed at the time of such reduction, regardless of the title in which he is employed at the time of said examination.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
