CHAPTER 556 AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE TRANSFER OF OUT OF WEDLOCK BIRTH RECORDS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 12 of chapter 46 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1988 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the second sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- No birth record of a child born out of wedlock or of a child of abnormal sex shall be so transmitted to any other city or town except with the written authorization of the natural mother at the time of the birth.

SECTION 2. The birth records of children born out of wedlock prior to the effective date of this act may be transmitted to the city or town of the mother's residence upon presentation to the clerk of acceptable documentary evidence of her residence at that time and completion of an affidavit as specified under section thirteen of chapter forty-six of the General Laws.
