Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
Notwithstanding the provisions of section seventeen of chapter forty-three of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the mayor-elect if elected by the people, the councillors-elect and the assessors-elect if elected by the people of the city of New Bedford, shall meet and be sworn to the faithful discharge of their duties on the first Monday in January following a regular election at seven o'clock post meridiem.
