CHAPTER 619 AN ACT FURTHER REGULATING THE LICENSING OF LOTTERY SALES AGENTS.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is, in part, to immediately regulate the licensing of lottery sales agents, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Section 27 of chapter 10 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1988 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the second sentence the following sentence:- Said director may refuse to issue a license to any person who has been convicted of a felony by a court of competent jurisdiction in the commonwealth or of any other state or of the United States and who, in the opinion of said director, is not of good moral character to act as a licensed agent to sell lottery tickets.

Approved December 22, 1989.
