Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. The board of selectmen of the town of Kingston may appoint such special police officers for the town of Kingston as said board deems necessary for the safety and protection of the citizens of said town.
SECTION 2. Said special police officers shall have the same power to make arrests and to perform other police functions as permanent intermittent police officers in the town of Kingston and shall be subject to the same training requirements as said permanent intermittent police officers.
SECTION 3. Said special police officers shall be appointed annually in the month of January and shall serve for a term of one year, subject to removal by said board. Said special police officers shall be sworn before the town clerk of the town who shall keep a record of all such appointments.
SECTION 4. Special police officers appointed under the provisions of this act shall not be subject to the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws.
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
