Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Section 5 of chapter 57 of the acts of 1976 is hereby amended by striking out the second sentence, as most recently amended by section 2 of chapter 23 of the acts of 1981, and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Such papers shall be signed by not less than ten registered voters of the precinct in which the candidate resides, and shall be filed with the board of election commissioners at least thirty-five days before the election.
