CHAPTER 684 AN ACT AUTHORIZING NORFOLK COUNTY TO BORROW MONEY FOR REPAIRS TO COURTHOUSE BUILDINGS IN SAID COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The county commissioners of Norfolk county are hereby authorized to raise and expend a sum not exceeding five million dollars for repairs and renovations to county buildings used for the operation and support of the court system of the commonwealth as they deem necessary and proper including plans and specifications and architectual work in connection therewith.

SECTION 2. For the purpose authorized by section one, the treasurer of said county, with the approval of the county commissioners and the county advisory board on county expenditures may borrow upon the credit of the county such sums as may be necessary not exceeding, in the aggregate, five million dollars; and may issue bonds or notes of the county thereof, which shall bear on their face the words, Norfolk County Court Buildings Renovation Loan, Act of 1989. Each authorized issue shall constitute a separate loan, and such loans shall be payable in not more than twenty years from their dates. The bonds or notes shall be signed by the county treasurer and countersigned by a majority of the county commissioners. The county may sell said securities at public or private sale, upon such terms and conditions as the county commissioners may deem proper, but for not less than their par value. Indebtedness included hereunder shall, except as herein provided, be subject to chapter thirty-five of the General Laws.
