CHAPTER 713 AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF GEORGETOWN TO ELECT A SEPARATE BOARD OF LIGHT COMMISSIONERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Georgetown is hereby authorized to create a separate board of light commissioners for the town, consisting of three members elected by the people for a term of three years. Of the three-member board, initially one shall be elected for one year, one for two years, and one for three years.

SECTION 2. This act shall be submitted to the voters of the town of Georgetown for acceptance at the annual town election in the year nineteen hundred and ninety, in the form of the following question which shall be placed in the official ballot to be used for the election of town officers at said elections: "Shall an act passed by the general court in the year nineteen hundred and eighty-nine, entitled 'An Act Authorizing the Town of Georgetown to Elect a Separate Board of Light Commissioners', be accepted ". If the majority of the votes cast in answer to this question is in the affirmative, this act shall become effective, but not otherwise.
