Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section twenty-eight B of chapter thirty-five of the General Laws, the advisory board on county expenditures in the county of Norfolk shall be appointed as follows: one person shall be appointed to said advisory board from each town in said county by the board of selectmen thereof, either from among the members of said board of selectmen by majority vote thereof, or by designation of a resident of said town by not less than a two-thirds vote of said board of selectmen. The mayor of a city or the manager of a council-manager municipality shall be the member from that municipality or may designate as member a resident of that city or town. The designated member of each city or town shall, after subscribing to an oath of office, receive a certificate of such appointment from the city or town clerk, who shall promptly forward a copy of the same to the office of the county commissioners of said county.
The term of office for advisory board members except for the initial appointment under this act, shall be one year. All appointments shall thereafter expire on the last day of August in each calendar year. Any vacancy may be filled in the same manner as the original appointment for the remainder of the term.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
