CHAPTER 78 AN ACT DESIGNATING CERTAIN INTERCHANGES ALONG INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ROUTE 495 IN MEMORY OF THOSE MASSACHUSETTS MEN AWARDED THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR DURING THE KOREAN WAR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of state highway Route 1A in the town of Wrentham shall be designated and known as the Corporal Gordon M. Craig, United States Army, Memorial Interchange, in memory of Corporal Gordon M. Craig, who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 2. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of state highway Route 1 in the town of Plainville shall be designated and known as the Hospital Corpsman Richard D. Dewart, United States Navy, Memorial Interchange, in memory of Hospital Corpsman Richard D. Dewart, who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 3. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of state highway Route 140 in the town of Franklin shall be designated and known as the Private First Class Walter C. Monegan, Jr., United States Marine Corps, Memorial Interchange in memory of Private First Class Walter C. Monegan, Jr., who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 4. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of state highway Route 126 in the town of Bellingham shall be designated and known as the Sergeant First Class Charles W. Turner, United States Army, Memorial Interchange, in memory of Sergeant First Class Charles W. Turner, who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 5. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of state highway Route 109 in the town of Milford shall be designated and known as the Lieutenant (jg.) Thomas J. Hudner, Jr., United States Navy, Interchange in honor of Lieutenant (jg.) Thomas J. Hudner, Jr., who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 6. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of state highway Route 85 in the town of Milford shall be designated and known as the Private First Class Joseph R. Ouellette, United States Army, Memorial Interchange, in memory of Private First Class Joseph R. Ouellette, who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 7. The interstate highway Route 495 interchange at the intersection of West Main street in the town of Hopkinton shall be designated and known as the Corporal Joseph Vittori, United States Marine Corps, Memorial Interchange, in memory of Corporal Joseph Vittori, who was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity, above and beyond the call of duty, in action against enemy forces during the Korean War.

SECTION 8. The department of public works shall erect and maintain suitable markers along said interchanges bearing such designations, in compliance with the standards of said department and as authorized by the federal highway administration.
