Session Laws

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The school committee of the city of Springfield is hereby authorized to ratify and validate the hiring of persons employed by the school department since January first, nineteen hundred and sixty-eight, notwithstanding the failure to comply with the provisions of section thirty-eight of chapter seventy-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law applicable to such hirings.

SECTION 2. The school committee of the city of Springfield is hereby authorized to delegate to the superintendent of schools, or his designee, the authority to hire personnel, subject to appropriation, for a period not to exceed ninety days. If within such ninety day period, the school committee shall vote to hire any such person, his date of employment shall be the date he was hired by the superintendent.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon acceptance by the school committee and city council of the city of Springfield.
