Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 4 of the charter of the town of Plymouth, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section twelve of chapter forty-three B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out clause (c) of paragraph 4-1-1 of section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following clause:-
(c) a Plymouth-Carver Regional School District Committee of seven members, three of whom shall be elected from Plymouth for three year overlapping terms. At the next special or annual town election of the Town of Plymouth next following the effective date of this amendment to the charter, the Town of Plymouth shall elect one additional member to serve for a term of three years. Thereafter, in every year in which the term of office of the elected member expires, Plymouth shall, at its annual election, elect a member or members to serve for a term of three years.
SECTION 2. This act shall be submitted for acceptance to the voters of the town of Plymouth at a special or annual town election in the form of the following question, which shall be placed upon an official ballot to be used at said election:- "Shall an act passed by the General Court in the year nineteen hundred and ninety, entitled 'An Act relative to the membership of the Plymouth-Carver regional school district committee in the town of Plymouth' be accepted ". If a majority of the votes in answer to said question is in the affirmative, then this act shall thereupon take full effect, but not otherwise.
