Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 737 of the acts of 1972 is hereby amended by adding the following definition:-

"Division", the division of fisheries and wildlife.

SECTION 2. Said chapter 737 is hereby further amended by striking out section 10 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 10. Hunting shall not be allowed in the Quabbin reservoir area except in those areas specified by the commission for the purposes of a deer management program as provided under the provisions of this act.

The commission shall periodically review the Quabbin reservoir lands with specific regard to the condition and resiliency of the forest ecosystem. The deer management program shall be administered pursuant to this act and subject to such special rules and regulations as may be promulgated by the commission with respect to watershed management and by the division with respect to deer management, to insure adequate protection of the public water supply.
