Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 5 of the charter of the town of Plymouth, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section twelve of chapter forty-three B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out paragraph 5-1-1 of section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
5-1-1 Beginning in nineteen hundred and ninety-one, the regular election for all town offices shall be by official ballot held on the second Saturday of May of each year.
SECTION 2. The provisions of section one shall take effect on January first, nineteen hundred and ninety-one.
SECTION 3. This act shall be submitted for acceptance to the voters of the town of Plymouth at a special or annual town election in the form of the following question, which shall be placed upon an official ballot to be used at said election:- "Shall an act passed by the General Court in the year nineteen hundred and ninety entitled 'An Act relative to the date for electing town officers in the town of Plymouth', be accepted ". If a majority of the votes in answer to said question is in the affirmative then this act shall thereupon take full effect, but not otherwise.
