CHAPTER 217 AN ACT EXEMPTING THE OFFICE OF CHIEF OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN THE TOWN OF HINGHAM FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter thirty-six of the acts of nineteen hundred and forty-five is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2. The office of the chief of the fire department in the town of Hingham shall not be subject to the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws.

SECTION 3. The provisions of sections one and two shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding the office of chief of the fire department in the town of Hingham on the effective date of this act.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
