Session Laws

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The Plymouth-Carver Regional School District hereinafter referred to as the district, which was established by the towns of Carver and Plymouth shall be dissolved as of June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and ninety-three, and the schools in each of the towns shall thereupon be under the jurisdiction and control of the respective local school committee of each town. Each town shall remain liable for any unpaid operating costs which have been certified by the treasurer of the district to the treasurer of that town including the full amount so certified for the year in which the dissolution occurs. Each town shall remain liable for its share of the indebtedness of the district outstanding at the time of the dissolution, and for interest thereon, to the same extent and in the same manner as though the district had not been dissolved.

SECTION 2. The members of the school committees of each of the towns of Carver and Plymouth shall serve as an interim committee in order to conclude the affairs of the district. The treasurer of the town of Plymouth shall serve ex officio as treasurer for said interim committee and shall apply the moneys provided by each of the towns to make the payments due on all obligations of the district until all such obligations have been paid. State reimbursements which are continuing and due to the district shall be made to said interim committee and applied to payments of indebtedness of the district. Each town shall receive state aid pursuant to chapter seventy-one of the General Laws as if the district were still in effect and such aid shall be paid directly to each town for a period of five years. Each town shall make the payments required to make debt service payments on the district's outstanding obligations under this section to the treasurer of the interim committee.

SECTION 3. Section forty-two B of chapter seventy-one of the General Laws shall apply to all school personnel formerly employed by the school committee for the Plymouth-Carver Regional School District.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
