Session Laws

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the treasurer-tax collector of the town of West Bridgewater shall be appointed by the board of selectmen of said town for a term not to exceed three years, and the person so appointed shall have the powers and duties vested in the office of treasurer and in the office of tax collector. A vacancy in such office shall be filled in like manner for the unexpired portion of the term.

SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one, the incumbent of the position of treasurer-tax collector, upon the effective date of this act, shall continue to hold said office and to perform the duties thereof until the expiration of the term for which he was elected and the appointment and qualifications of a successor, or until he otherwise vacates such office.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
