Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 23 of chapter 448 of the acts of 1909, as amended by section 1 of chapter 70 of the acts of 1952, is hereby further amended by striking out the first two sentences and inserting in place thereof the following two sentences:- The school committee of said city shall consist of the mayor, ex officio, and six members elected as herein provided. Four members shall constitute a quorum.
SECTION 2. This act shall be submitted to the voters of the city of Taunton at the city election to be held in the year nineteen hundred and ninety-three in the form of the following question which shall be placed upon the official ballot to be used for the election of city officers at said election:
"Shall an act passed by the general court in the year nineteen hundred and ninety-three, entitled 'An act relative to the number of school committee members in the city of Taunton', be accepted ".
If a majority of votes cast in answer to said question is in the affirmative, then this act shall take full effect but not otherwise.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
