CHAPTER 214 AN ACT RELATIVE TO MUNICIPAL DISABILITY COMMISSIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The first paragraph of section 8J of chapter 40 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1992 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- A city which accepts the provisions of this section by vote of its city council, subject to the provisions of its charter, or a town which accepts the provisions of this section at an annual or special town meeting, may establish a commission on disability, hereinafter called the commission, to cause the full integration and participation of people with disabilities in such city or town.

SECTION 2. The action of any town which has accepted the provisions of section eight J of chapter forty of the General Laws by vote at a regular or special town meeting prior to the effective date of this act is hereby ratified, validated and confirmed.
