Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one of chapter forty-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, the office of treasurer-collector in the town of Belchertown is hereby established. Said treasurer-collector shall be appointed by the board of selectmen for a term not to exceed three years and shall have all the powers and perform all duties hereinbefore performed by the treasurer and collector of said town. Any vacancy in said office shall be filled in a like manner for the unexpired portion of the term.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one, the incumbents in the office of treasurer and collector on the effective date of this act shall continue to hold said offices and to perform the duties thereof until the expiration of the terms for which they were elected and the appointment and qualification of a treasurer-collector or until they otherwise vacate said offices.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
