CHAPTER 322 AN ACT RELATIVE TO FIREFIGHTERS IN THE TOWN OF HATFIELD.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of section eighty-five H of chapter thirty-two, section one hundred and eleven F of chapter forty-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the town of Hatfield is hereby authorized to make payments, in the event that one or more of its firefighters is injured and disabled, or killed, in the line of duty, at the levels which would otherwise be authorized as authorized by law assuming and as if such firefighter's salary were that of a full time entry level permanent firefighter in Hampshire county, such amount to be the average of the three such salaries in the towns of Amherst and Easthampton and the city of Northampton at the time pertinent, and the town is also hereby authorized to provide such compensation directly or through insurance.
