CHAPTER 381 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENT OF THE TAX COLLECTOR IN THE TOWN OF LEICESTER.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of section one of chapter forty-one of the General Laws, the board of selectmen of the town of Leicester shall, upon the expiration of the term of the incumbent tax collector, appoint a person to the office of tax collector for a term of three years. He may be removed for cause. He shall have the power, perform the duties and be subject to the liabilities and penalties now or hereafter conferred or imposed by law on tax collectors. Any vacancy in the office shall be filled in like manner by appointment by the board of selectmen for the remaining unexpired term.
