Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. The city of Springfield is hereby authorized to use a certain parcel of open space or park land for other municipal, public, and riverfront development purposes, including retail and commercial uses, and for such infrastructure and other improvements as may be necessary or appropriate in connection therewith. Said land located in said city is bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point on the northerly side of Union Street, said point being S42<=42'10"W along said line of Union Street a distance of 248.69' from the intersection of the westerly line of Interstate 91 and the northerly line of said Union Street, said point also being the southeasterly corner of land herein to be described; thence, by a curve to the left of radius equal to 4509.00' and a central angle of 1<=14'32" along land of Penn Central Transportation Company an arc distance of 97.76' to a point; thence, N42<=58'11"E a distance of 46.68' along land of Penn Central Transportation Company to a point; thence, by a curve to the left of radius equal to 4554.25' and a central angle of 2<=12'39" along land of Penn Central Transportation Company an arc distance of 175.73' to a point of compound curvature; thence by a curve to the left of radius equal to 5079.52' and a central angle of 6<=44'10" along land of Penn Central Transportation Company, the westerly terminus of Bliss Street and continuing along land of Penn Central Transportation Company an arc distance of 597.18' to a point of compound curvature; thence by a curve to the left of radius equal to 5700.15' and a central angle of 0<=46'52" along land of Penn Central Transportation Company an arc distance of 77.71' to the southerly street line of State Street; thence, S41<=57'28"W along said line of State Street a distance of 39.01' to the southwesterly corner of State Street; thence, N48<=02'32"W along the westerly terminus of State Street a distance of 49.50' to the northwesterly corner of State Street; thence, N41<=57'28"E along the northerly street line of State Street a distance of 43.50' to a point; thence, by a curve to the left of radius equal to 5700.15' and a central angle of 1<=06'59" along land of Penn Central Transportation Company an arc distance of 110.51' to corner of land of the City of Springfield; thence S58<=40'17"W along aforementioned land a distance of 46.58' to an angle point; thence, S57<=37'39"W along land of City of Springfield a distance of 35.58' to an angle point; thence, S56<=57'50" along land of City of Springfield a distance of 49.00' to a point; thence, southwesterly a distance of 34' more or less to the northeasterly edge of the Connecticut River as of December, 1975; thence, southeasterly along aforementioned edge a distance of 1160' more or less to the northerly street line of Union Street extended in a westerly direction; thence northeasterly along aforementioned extension of Union Street street line a distance of 50' more or less, to the northwesterly corner of Union Street, thence N42<=42'10"E along northeasterly street line of Union Street a distance of 93.29' to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
