Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Section 2 of chapter 6 of the charter of the town of Truro, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the seventh paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-

No member of a multimember body, except a member of the board of fire engineers, shall serve for more than three consecutive terms on such body, and two years must pass before such member shall again be eligible for membership on the same such body. No member of the board of fire engineers shall serve more than nine consecutive one-year terms on such body and two years must pass before such member shall be eligible for membership on the same such body. Service to complete a vacant, unexpired term shall not constitute a term for the purpose of this section.
