CHAPTER 372 AN ACT EXEMPTING THE POSITIONS OF POLICE CHIEF AND DEPUTY POLICE CHIEF IN THE CITY OF NEW BEDFORD FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The positions of chief of police and deputy police chief in the city of New Bedford shall be exempt from the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. The provisions of section one shall not impair the civil service status of the person holding the positions of chief of police or deputy police chief in the city of New Bedford on the effective date of this act.
