Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the bridge located on Danvers road in the town of Swampscott shall be designated as the Patrolman Joseph H. Doane Memorial Bridge, in memory of patrolman Joseph H. Doane of the Swampscott Police Department who died of injuries sustained in the line of duty. The department of highways is hereby directed to erect suitable markers thereon bearing said designation in compliance with the standards of said department.
