CHAPTER 442 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A TREASURER-COLLECTOR IN THE TOWN OF WINTHROP.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one of chapter forty-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the office of treasurer-collector in the town of Winthrop is hereby established. Said treasurer-collector shall be appointed by the board of selectmen of said town for a term of three years and the person so appointed shall have all the powers and duties vested in the office of treasurer and the office of collector. A vacancy in said office shall be filled in a like manner for the unexpired portion of the term. Said office shall not be subject to the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws. The compensation of said office shall be established within the classification and pay plan of the town by-laws, as recommended by the personnel board and set by the board of selectmen.

SECTION 2. The incumbent in the office of treasurer and collector on the effective date of this act shall continue to hold said offices and to perform the duties thereof until the expiration of his term and the appointment of a treasurer-collector or a preceding vacating of office.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
