Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 34 of chapter 438 of the acts of 1896, as amended by section 29 of chapter 189 of the acts of 1992, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word "solicitor" in the first sentence the following words:- who shall be appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the city council, for a term consistent with the appointing mayor.
SECTION 2. Said section 34 of said chapter 438, as so amended, is hereby further amended by striking out the sentence "The city solicitor and city marshall shall be appointed by the mayor annually in the month of January, and each shall hold his office for the term of one year beginning with the first Monday of January in the year of his appointment, unless sooner removed, and until his successor is appointed and qualified." and inserting in place thereof the following two sentences:- The city solicitor shall be appointed by the mayor, and confirmed by the city council, for a term consistent with the appointing mayor, unless sooner removed, and until his successor is appointed and qualified. The city marshall shall be appointed by the mayor annually in the month of January, and shall hold his office for the term of one year beginning with the first Monday of January in the year of his appointment, unless sooner removed, and until his successor is appointed and qualified.
