Be it approved by the Senate and the House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, pursuant to Article LXXXVII of the Amendments to
the Constitution, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 17A of chapter 6 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1994 official edition, is amended by striking the section and inserting in place thereof the following:-
Section 17A. There is hereby established a cabinet, which shall serve directly under the governor. The cabinet shall consist of the secretary of administration, the secretary of environmental affairs, the secretary of family services, the secretary of elder affairs, the secretary of public safety, the secretary of public property, and such other offices of the executive department as the governor may from time to time designate.
SECTION 2. Section 2 of chapter 6A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1994 official edition, is amended by striking the section and inserting in place thereof the following:-
Section 2. There are hereby established the following executive offices, each of which shall serve directly under the governor:- environmental affairs, family services, elder affairs, public safety, and public property.
SECTION 3. Section eight of said chapter six A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. Section nine of said chapter six A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. Section 16 of said chapter 6A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking the word "human" in lines 2, 42 and 45 and inserting in place thereof the word:- family.
SECTION 6. Section seventeen of said chapter six A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 7. Section seventeen B of said chapter six A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 8. Section 19 of said chapter 6A of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking the words "transportation and construction" in lines 2 and 13 and inserting in place thereof the words:- public property.
SECTION 9. Section 3 of chapter fifteen A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1994 official edition, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 10. The provisions of this act shall become effective on
July first, nineteen hundred and ninety-six.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 2, paragraph (a) of Article
LXXXVII of the Amendments to the Constitution, the reorganization plan has
taken the force of law, not having been disapproved by the House of
Representatives.
