Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary,
the commissioner of the division of capital asset management and maintenance is
hereby
authorized, on behalf of the commonwealth, with the approval of the adjutant
general of the military division, to lease the armory in the city of Holyoke to
said city, and said city is hereby authorized to lease said armory from the
commonwealth. Said lease shall require that said armory be used for municipal
purposes and shall be for a term not to exceed 30 years.
Subject to the provisions of chapter 30 and chapter 149 of the General
Laws, the city of Holyoke is hereby authorized to renovate and make
improvements to said armory pursuant to said lease and, with the approval of
the commissioner, sublease areas of said armory so long as such sublease is for
a public purpose and is subject to and consistent with the terms of said lease.
