Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 9 of chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the
contrary, and for the purpose of promoting the public good, the retirement
board of the city of Springfield shall pay to
Eleanor Lawler, the surviving spouse of Daniel Lawler, a former firefighter of
said city, a pension equal to that which she would have received had
section 100 of
said chapter 32 been in effect at the time of the death of said Daniel
Lawler. Said payments shall become effective on the first payment date after
the effective date of this act and shall not be retroactive.
SECTION 2.
This act shall take effect upon its passage.
